The essay is fundamental essay writer to criticism that is literary and basic to assessment across your degree. Module Aims

The aims with this module are to: • develop your own writing and enjoyment of writing; • assess various techniques for constructing arguments; • locate and evaluate primary and research material that is secondary.

Knowledge and Understanding

Having successfully completed this module, it will be possible to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • Better build your thoughts through the writing process;
  • Appreciate different contexts and purposes for writing
  • Use independent and self-reflective judgement that is critical

The module will introduce students to principles of rhetoric, composition and discourse as they relate with their own writing also to reading literary texts. It will engage with a variety of texts, including classical and historical texts on rhetoric, historical and contemporary essays.

Learning and Teaching

Teaching and learning methods

The module weekly allocation of two teaching that is one-hour is going to be used flexibly for lectures, seminar and small group discussions. A selection of formative and summative writing exercises will soon be used, with a few micro-writing exercises and peer assessment exercises taking place in class times. This module includes a Learning Support Hour. This can be a flexible weekly contact hour, built to support and react to the specific cohort using the module from year to year. This hour should include ( not be restricted to) activities such as language, theory and research skills classes; group work supervisions; assignment preparation and essay writing guidance; assignment consultations; feedback and sessions that are feed-forward.

Expenses associated with this module

Students are responsible for meeting the cost of essential textbooks, and of producing essays that are such assignments, laboratory reports and dissertations as are required to fulfil the academic requirements for each programme of study.

Dates marked with an asterisk (*) are scheduled when it comes to South County Center in Great Barrington; those sessions marked with two asterisks (**) shall be held at McCann Tech in North Adams. College Level Reading and Writing:

A 2.7 High that is cumulative School will put the student in college level reading and writing, and that student will not require the Accuplacer for Reading and Writing.

Any GPA below 2.7 will still require the Accuplacer for writing and reading.

Students are strongly encouraged to make a consultation for the earliest session that they can attend. Practicing before you arrive at make the Accuplacer is a good idea.

The Accuplacer tests have now been updated to better gauge the skills incoming college students want to succeed.

CLEP & DANTES

In order to schedule a consultation for a College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam, a student must first purchase an exam voucher in the CLEP website. Double-check that you will be seeking the correct exam prior to making your payment. Once you save its number to your admission tickets, call the Assessment & Testing Center at 413-236-1655 which will make your appointment for just one of this dates the following.

Please be advised that you’ll want to pay a test administration fee of $30.00 to Berkshire Community College on the day of your exam; this fee just isn’t included in the payment you make on the internet site. This fee may be paid by check, cash, or money order only. We have been an open test center, serving both our students and the ones through the greater community.
